Like I Said, Best Catcher in Baseball

Wieters won the gold glove for catchers last year in the American League and is widely regarded as the best defensive catcher in baseball. He routinely calls an amazing game behind the plate, does what he is supposed to do and throws everyone out. This year though he has improved another part of his game.

Wieters hit two more home runs last night with three total hits. He scored twice and drove in five. That isn't the best part though, one of the homers was a grand slam in the tenth inning. Talk about coming through in the clutch. Wieters is amazing. So far on the season he is hitting .344 and has a .462 OBP, and he is up to 4 homers on the season. This guy is going to be really good for a really long time.

Largely because of Wieters, the Orioles were able to come back against the Chicago White Sox last night. They were down 4-1 in the 8th before Wieters' first homer which made it 4-2. Then they scored 2 more in the ninth to send it into extras. The Orioles exploded in the 10th for 6 runs to win the game 10-4. Great job Orioles!

Other Orioles to homer in the game were Nolan Reimold and Adam Jones. Reimold did not start, but pinch hit in the 7th. He ended up going 2 for 3 after his pinch hit and hit a critical ninth inning homer while he was in the game. Reimold raised his average to .353 and hit his 3rd home run of the young season. Something that will probably be forgotten because of the 6th run ninth inning is that Reimold also actually had a single in the 10th that made it 6-4 before Wieters' grand slam. That single was pretty clutch. Adam Jones hit his 4th home run of the season in the ninth inning and continues to be on a tear.

Pedro Strop was flawless in two innings of work and picked up the win. I like this Strop guy, can you believe we got him for Mike Gonzalez? Hopefully, Duquette can pull some trade magic with Kevin Gregg.
